I think that you could be interested in this information:

GET UP: a system that saves your life.

Also in 1997 in Italy some mortal accidents have occurred because of
"missed hooking".
Two paragliders took off without closing the tight-pad straps.
In both these accidents the result has been fatal.
It seems quite impossible that such an important thing can be forgotten,
and yet this type of troubles is frequent not only in Italy but also abroad.
The remedy exists: Andrea Bonavita and Paolo Fabbri, both passionate
practisers of
paragliding, invented and patented a system which detains the pilot in the
harness even if he has forgotten to secure the tight-pads and allows him to
easily sit down.
They called it GET UP.
Making this simple modification to the harness, you don't run anymore the
risk to take off with your leg straps unsecured.
This modification consists in inserting a second buckle on the chest strap:
when you sicure the chest strap on both sides, the tight-pads are
automatically detained by a double line strap (which can resist till 600 kg
of weight) linking them to the chest strap.
Woody Valley, the most important italian harness-maker has already realized
some patterns which include the GET UP system, and soon available will be a
kit applicable in few minutes on every type of harness.
We are finalising the kit and we'll propose it at Bassano International
Meeting (april '98).
The system obtained the endorsement of all the instructors (Jimmy Pacher as
first) we have shown it.
We think (and hope) that the system will become soon a standard equipment
for all harnesses builders.
The system is really simple and we think we'll sell the kit at about $60
The Get Up system is patented, but we'll give no exclusive right.
We'll produce and sell directly the kit.
